WHY CAUSE WARTS?
Wart is an infection caused by human papilloma viruses called HPV (Human Papilloma Virus). Only two types of warts are not caused by HPV. Molluscum contagiosum, also called umbilical wart, is caused by the molluscum contagiosum virus from the poxvirus family. In seborrheic warts, the causative agent is not a virus. These are also called seborrheic keratosis, they are not true warts. Therefore, it is not contagious. It is more common in people with a weak immune system.
